Environmental Health

To protect, promote, and enhance the health and well-being of the public and the environment through the application of scientific principles, education, and environmental health laws and regulations.

Environmental Health Specialists perform food, lodging, day care and institutional sanitation inspections, on-site soil evaluations and inspections of septic systems, bacteriological sampling, animal bite investigations, public swimming pool sanitation inspections and childhood lead poisoning investigations. Environmental Health Specialists also administer the solid waste and recycling program, monitor drinking water systems for compliance and license food facilities.
