Report a Crime Online
The Polk County Sheriff's Office continues to offer a viable option for the citizens of Polk County. You can report certain crimes online in a more efficient manner through this website. Online reporting has been offered for over a year and people are using it. Online reporting helps reduce the overall cost to the Sheriff's Office for certain types of crimes that do not have a known suspect, or a crime that happened a long time ago. The crimes that are eligible for online reporting are:
- Theft
- Burglary II (from outbuildings, not houses)
- Criminal Mischief
- Offensive Littering
- Identity Theft
- Graffiti Complaints

The online reporting form requests basic information, including name, address, type of crime alleged and a description of what happened. Once the report is submitted via the website, the Sheriff's Office will contact the person that submitted the form, and provide them with a case number.
Sergeants will review the online reports. If there are concerns or other incidents in the area, patrol deputies will be assigned for direct contact follow-up. This online reporting form will also streamline the process for those citizens seeking a case number to report minor thefts to their insurance company.
