Heroic Actions of Sergeant Jenkins

Polk County Sergeant Tyrone Jenkins was presented a Life Saving Award by Sheriff Bob Wolfe at the Polk County Board of Commissioners meeting on Wednesday. Sergeant Jenkins was on patrol on August 29, 2012, at approximately 7:50 PM, when he overheard a medical call of a unconscious male laying on the sidewalk in the City of Dallas. Sergeant Jenkins was a couple of blocks away and arrived finding Dave Manley (42) of Dallas unconscious and not breathing.

Sergeant Jenkins, who is a certified CPR First Aid instructor for the Sheriff's Office immediately began to administer CPR, and after a short period of time Mr. Manley began to breath on his own.

Sheriff Bob Wolfe stated, "The heroic actions and training of Sergeant Jenkins has allowed for Mr. Manley to be present with us today for this presentation." Representatives of the Dallas Fire Department who responded to the scene were also on hand and presented Sergeant Jenkins with a Letter of Commendation for his actions. Mr. Manley spoke briefly, thanking Sergeant Jenkins for being close by when the call came in, it made the difference.
