What is the County Veteran Services Office?

The Polk County Veteran Services Office was established by the Polk County Board of Commissioners to assist Veterans and their dependents in obtaining benefits from Federal and State agencies.

How We Can Help Our Veterans?

VA Benefits are not received automatically and navigating the benefits process can be confusing. The services provided to qualifying Veterans of the Armed Forces in Polk County include but are not limited to, assisting Veterans and/or their dependents (including qualified surviving spouses) with the following:

♦Service connected disability claims/compensation

♦Non service-connected disability claims/pension

♦Surviving spouse benefits

♦Burial, marker and flag applications

♦Dependent children benefits

♦Education benefits

♦Vocational rehabilitation applications

♦Locating military/service/medical records

♦Aid in upgrading the Veteran's disability percentage

♦VA Medical enrollment applications

What Does Your Veteran Services Officer Do?

Your service officer is trained in VA Benefits. The VSO will assist you with submitting your claim to the VA and will provide follow up services, if needed, to determine that you received the benefits to which you are entitled. The VSO will act as your advocate with the VA to help you fill out applications and file claims.
