Intake and Classification

Intake is responsible for the classification and evaluation of all Justice Involved Individuals (JII) entering Polk County Community Corrections from Circuit Court, as well as transfers from other jurisdictions. Upon initial sentencing and contact with the office, all JII’s will be scheduled individually with the Caseload Specialist and will be required to fill out an extensive intake packet prior to meeting with their assigned Probation/Parole Officers. An initial risk assessment will be conducted to determine the individual's risk to re-offend within the community and determine the initial supervision strategy for the JII.

The Caseload Specialist works closely with supervising officers, law enforcement agencies, and probation offices in other counties and states.  Probation/Parole Officers work closely with the individual during this process to identify issues that may impede their success by thoroughly reviewing all conditions of probation and answering any questions. This provides a clear understanding of reporting requirements and addresses any special conditions from the court order.
