National Child Safety Council

The Polk County Sheriff's Office has partnered with the National Child Safety Council to help provide educational programs that will enable our deputies to interact with our county's youth to have a positive impact on their lives.   It is only with the help of local businesses and other interested parties, that the Sheriff's Office is able to deliver these enhanced programs to our school districts.

By partnering with the National Child Safety Council the Sheriff's Office is able to get age specific educational material that can be taught to kids in the various school districts.  These programs are flexible enough to allow the deputies to provide safety materials to kids based on their age, skill level and also based on the needs of the individual school.  The different programs that are available through the National Child Safety Council include areas like drug prevention, gun safety, bicycle safety, bullies, internet safety and many more.

"I truly want to thank the many local businesses that have helped get this program started.  Without the community's commitment this program it will not work and I am thankful for the support thus far." Sheriff Garton said.

For more information about this program, please email Sheriff Mark Garton or he can be reached by calling 503-623-9251.
