Mailing address and books

BOOKS:

We no longer accept paperback books from the public.  If you are wanting to provide books for someone in the jail they will need to be sent directly from the publisher.  Books sent from Amazon will not be accepted.  Those in custody can only possess 4 non religious paperback books at a time, thus do not send more than 4 at once.  Religious books will be provided to those in custody after they have completed the appropriate request form.

MAIL:

Beginning 2/15/2024 We will begin using TextBehind which is part of Viapath and gettingout.com for inmate mail. 

Mail should be addressed as below:

We do not accept inmate mail at the Jail address.  All inmate mail is processed by a 3rd party vendor (TextBehind) to prevent the introduction of contraband into the facility and protect our staff from possible exposure to any dangerous substances.  Any mail processed by TextBehind will be digitally scanned and delivered to inmates via a tablet in the housing area.  If you want the original mail returned to you, you must contact TextBehind within 60 days of sending it or TextBehind will destroy the original mail.  Do not send copies of original pictures or documents you deem sentimental or valuable.  Check out our Frequently Asked Questions for more information on mail.   You can locate inmate ID numbers under Inmates In Custody.  The ID number is a 5 digit number.  There is ZERO cost to send inmates mail via the address below.  TextBehind Help Topics for those interested in more information.

 

The Polk County Jail will continue to accept envelopes with only money orders for inmates via the US Postal Service and should be addressed as below.  Do not include letters or other material in the envelope or it will be returned to the sender.  Mail not addressed as below will be returned to the sender unopened.
