Glenn Pennie Disappearance

Glenn Pennie

Glenn Pennie disappeared under suspicious circumstances in October 2004.  He was last seen by a neighbor on October 3, 2004, at his home at 14970 Airlie Road in rural Polk County.  Mr. Pennie was planning to leave on October 4, 2004 for Oakland, CA, to attend a court hearing regarding his late father’s estate, where he would inherit more than one million dollars.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate Glenn’s disappearance once it was discovered that his pickup was still in the driveway a few days after he was supposed to have left for California.  Investigators found no sign of a struggle and no signs that other vehicles had been in or out of Glenn’s driveway.  Glenn’s pickup was found to be packed with a suitcase, snacks, and other travel items for his planned trip to California.

Investigators discovered that Glenn had arranged for a neighbor to feed his cat.  Glenn had also called some friends in California the night of October 3, 2004 to let them know he would be leaving early the next morning for Oakland.

A massive search was conducted over the next few weeks, covering 53 square miles and monitoring of Glenn’s bank accounts and cell phone records yielded no clues as to what happened to Glenn.  Those that knew Glenn told investigators that he would not have simply walked away from his father’s inheritance.

The Polk County Cold Case Team has been working on this case since 2007, but the whereabouts of Glenn or what happened to him are still unknown.  The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information regarding the disappearance of Glenn Pennie to call the Tip Line at 503-623-1878 and refer to Case #04-2879.
