Environmental Health

Mission:

To protect, promote, and enhance the health and well-being of the public and the environment through the application of scientific principles, education, and environmental health laws and regulations.

Environmental Health Specialists perform food, lodging, day care and institutional sanitation inspections, on-site soil evaluations and inspections of septic systems, bacteriological sampling, public swimming pool sanitation inspections and childhood lead poisoning investigations. Environmental Health Specialists also administer the solid waste and recycling program, and monitor drinking water systems for compliance and license food facilities.

The Environmental Health Division consists of Christina Tisdell, Environmental Health Supervisor and Oregon Registered Professional Sanitarian, assisted by Justine Bova, Environmental Health Specialist Trainee.

The Sanitarian is available at the Community Development Department counter and by phone between the regularly scheduled hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., Monday – Friday. Outside of these hours, the Sanitarian may be out of the office due to field work and offsite inspections. If you need to reach a Sanitarian outside of the regularly scheduled office hours, please call ahead to ensure someone will be available.
