In 2020 Polk County entered into an agreement with Alyrica Networks to significantly expand rural broadband access for the county. Through the public partnership with Alyrica Networks and Polk County, we are pleased to announce that the first 2 of 6 new wireless internet towers have been completed.

The Polk County Veterans Service Office assists each Veteran in applying for VA Benefits (compensation, pension, and other entitlements) to which they may be entitled. The Service Officer and staff are advocates for Polk County Veterans and dependent claims. Making a difference in Veterans' lives is our most important focus.

On November 2, 2022 the Polk County Board of Commissioners approved and signed Resolution 22-10 in the matter of Fair Housing.

Operation Green Light - A Salute to our Veterans

During the end of July / beginning of August, Polk County Public Works will be completing Chip Seal projects in the South County and West Salem areas. Crews will be applying a chip seal and fog seal to the County roads listed below. More information on the chip seal process can be found by clicking this sections title.

Polk County is finalizing the acquisition of the vacant Wells Fargo building at 636 Main Street in Dallas Oregon. The intent to purchase this building, versus building a new facility is a cost saving measure to acquire much needed space to house essential behavioral health services staff. This location also proved to be an excellent addition for these staff to stay near their primary services offered in the Academy Building only a block away.

On June 7th, Commissioner Pope presented to the Board a letter that he drafted to send to the three leading candidates for Oregon Governor, in regards to the current condition of our state highways and lack of regular maintenance. On June 8th, it was approved by the Board of Commissioners to sign in support of the letter.

The construction for the Buena Vista Park & Boat Launch will be starting in May 2022. The park and boat launch will be closed from 5/23/2022 - 9/30/2022 with no option to put in or pull out any motorized or non-motorized water crafts.
