In 2020 Polk County entered into an agreement with Alyrica Networks to significantly expand rural broadband access for the county. Through the public partnership with Alyrica Networks and Polk County, we are pleased to announce that the first 2 of 6 new wireless internet towers have been completed.

The goal of the partnership with Alyrica, when complete, is to provide broadband access to more than 700 new addresses in rural Polk County, that are considered ‘unserved’ or ‘underserved’ by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) standard.

Alyrica has stated, that the technology for the tower sites is designed and manufactured here in the in the United States. It is also the first internet service provider in Oregon to deploy this type of technology which will allow customers to get speeds up to 400/52 Mbps.
