Deputies Graduate from DPSST

On Friday, August 19, 2016 three new Polk County recruits graduated from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST), an academy which consisted of sixteen weeks of intense police training. The three recruits were Deputy Yumi Kong, Deputy Chris Younger, and Deputy Samuel Hatch.

Enhanced Enforcement Aims to Save Lives Through Click It or Ticket Campaign

Oregon law requires all occupants to use safety restraints or a child safety system appropriate for their size.  Law enforcement agencies throughout Oregon will be working overtime to focus on proper safety belt use including child seat use, during a nationwide traffic enforcement “blitz” occurring day and night from Wednesday, August 15th through Sunday, September 2nd. 

Seat Belt Enforcement Effort Aims to Save Lives Through Participation in Click It or Ticket Campaign

Polk County Sheriff’s Office – From August 22nd through September 4th Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with law enforcement Officers throughout Oregon will participate in the national Click It or Ticket traffic enforcement “blitz” in an effort to save lives through increased seat belt use and education.

Since the voters passed the levy, your Sheriff’s Office immediately took action to rebuild the office and follow through on the promises that were made during the levy campaign.

National Child Safety Council

The Polk County Sheriff's Office has partnered with the National Child Safety Council to help provide educational programs that will enable our deputies to interact with our county's youth to have a positive impact on their lives.   It is only with the help of local businesses and other interested parties, that the Sheriff's Office is able to deliver these enhanced programs to our school districts.

Deputies Graduate From DPSST

On May 20, 2016, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office had three Corrections Deputies graduate from the Basic Corrections Academy at the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST). Deputies Steene, Hofferber and Rierson all successfully completed the 6-week training program. Sheriff Mark Garton had the honor to be the guest speaker during the graduation ceremony today and urged the graduates to “retain their perspective they have today and to honor this profession by holding themselves to a higher standard everyday”.

Sheriff Garton Presents Two Lifesaving Awards & Certificate of Merit

On May 11th, 2016 Sheriff Mark Garton had the honor to present two lifesaving awards and a Certificate of Merit to members of the Lincoln County and Polk County Sheriff Offices’. The incident stemmed from a motor vehicle crash on March 2nd, 2016 at about 9:30 AM. Lincoln County Deputy Eric Larson and Support Services Specialist Shelby Baker were traveling from Lincoln County to Monmouth Oregon on Highway 223, south of Dallas. While near McTimmonds Cr. Rd, they observed an oncoming vehicle leave the shoulder of the roadway and collide with some trees.

Crime Reports- City Protect

Crime Reports/City Protect is an online site where you can look up an address and find out what kind of incidents have been reported around that location.

 

You can narrow your search down to a specific date range, to a specific incident such as a fire or vandalism, and even see if there is a predatory sex offender living close by.

 

You can also set up an alert so that you are notified when something happens or when a predatory sex offender moves in to your neighborhood.

CHL - Proof of Residency

In order to provide proof of residency, you must have the most up-to-date information on your Oregon Driver’s License or Oregon Identification Card and they must be valid. 

 

You may also provide one of the following:

  • DMV receipt showing your name and change of address

  • Current rental or lease agreement

  • Current voter registration card
      * People who travel & have no permanent residence, but consider Polk County as home may use this
