Survey & Engineering
What the Polk County Surveyor's Office can do:
- Recovers, restores and protects original section donation land claim corner and section locations. For more information, please visit the Government Corner Restoration Program page.
- Reviews pending subdivisions and partition plat maps for compliance with Oregon statutes and County requirements, mathematical accuracy, visual clarity, easements, encroachments and other potential issues, then adds them to the survey records.
- Receives private survey maps for filing, reviews them for compliance with Oregon statutes and County requirements, and adds them to the public and survey records.
- Assists the general public with locating records and historical research in property surveys, subdivision plats, partition plats, condominium plats, cemetery plats, road records, public easements, local access roads, gateways, County surveys, control surveys, GPS surveys and general survey questions. For more information, please refer to the Research Links, below.
It is important to remember that not all property has been surveyed and may only be a division on paper, recorded in the deed records. In addition, some survey monuments marking land boundaries have no survey recorded, due to the fact that the survey pre-dates recording requirements and the monument reference may only show up in deeds, if at all.
What the Polk County Surveyor's Office can not do:
- Perform Surveys for private property owners
- Recommend private surveyors. If you need a surveyor, we have accumulated THIS LIST or you can search for local Land Surveyors using an online search engine.
