Donation Land Claims

Oregon donation land claims were the result of a statue which passed in 1850 and enacted by congress.  The statue granted "320 acres of designated areas free of charge to every unmarried

Request for Military Discharge

With the passing of Senate Bill 618 in 2009, all military discharge records are exempt from public disclosure.  Military discharge records can only be provided to:

  • Veteran
  • Veteran’s spouse
  • Legal guardian or personal representative to military veteran
  • County veteran’s service officer
  • Representative of Department of Veteran’s Affairs
  • Licensed funeral home

Please fill out the Supporting Document form below. You can send it by mail or bring to our office.  Military discharge records are provided free of charge.

New Years Day - Offices Closed

Polk County offices are closed on Wednesday, January 1, in celebration of New Years Day.  Emergency services and law enforcement will remain available.

 

 

Christmas Day - Offices Closed

Polk County offices are closed Wednesday, December 25, in celebration of Christmas.
Emergency services and law enforcement will remain available.

 

 

Christmas Eve - Offices will Close at Noon

Polk County offices will close at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24, in celebration of Christmas. Emergency services and law enforcement will remain available.

 

Thanksgiving Day - Offices Closed

Polk County offices are closed Thursday, November 28, in celebration of Thanksgiving Day.
Law Enforcement and emergency personnel will remain available.

 

 

Veterans Day - Offices Closed

Polk County offices are closed on Monday, November 11, in honor of Veterans Day.
Law Enforcement and emergency services will remain available.

 

 

Reserve Unit Appreciation BBQ

The Polk County Sheriff's Office held an appreciation BBQ for the Reserve Unit on the shore of the Willamette River August 3.

Labor Day - Offices Closed

Polk County offices are closed Monday, September 2, in honor of Labor Day.
Law Enforcement and emergency services will remain available.

 

 

Detective Krauger Receives Recognition From FBI

Detective Burney Krauger retired from the Polk County Sheriff's Office on June 30, 2013 after 22 years of law enforcement. On July 23, 2013, the Salem office of the FBI arranged to have Detective Krauger present at the Polk County Sheriff's Office to present him with a letter from the Director of the FBI, Robert S. Mueller, III.
