The Mission of the Community Development Department

“Excellence in customer service by providing courteous, timely and professional service to the citizens of Polk County through innovation in administration of planning, building and environmental health regulations and policies in order to protect the health and safety of the citizens of the County.”

Welcome to the Polk County Clerk's Office!

The Polk County Clerk's Office serves a number of important functions including:

  • Administrating elections
  • Preserving various records and making them available to the public
  • Recording land transactions
  • Issuing marriage licenses
  • Property Value Appeals Board (PVAB) contact during property tax appeal period

 

Welcome to the Board of Commissioners

The goal of the Board of Commissioners is to make public policy and manage County affairs in an open and efficient manner, manage County assets in a responsible manner to enhance their value and benefit to Polk County citizens, and provide essential and mandated County programs in accordance with the wishes of the citizens of the County.

Current Commissioners serving Polk County include Craig Pope (Chair), Lyle Mordhorst, and Jeremy Gordon.

 

Local Public Safety Coordinating Council

Polk County's Local Public Safety Coordinating Council (LPSCC) was established by Senate Bill 1145 (1995) to coordinate local criminal justice policy among affected criminal justice entities and since 2014, develop and approve their county’s Justice Reinvestment Grant program.

To carry out this mission, the LPSCC, chaired by retired judge Charles Luukinen, hold quarterly meetings. Time-limited and project-specific subcommittees also meet to work on key issues in the public safety system.

Welcome to the Polk County Assessor’s website. We are committed to providing convenient access to information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The goal of the Assessor’s Office is to ensure fairness and equity of property assessments, equitable interpretation of and compliance with statutory laws regarding property assessment, and that all recorded legal documents are processed in a timely manner and reflect accurate records of ownership.
