Reading for All

                                                  What is Reading for All?

Reading for All is a literacy initiative that seeks to promote community literacy to support productive lives through identifying and aligning resources in the Northern Willamette Valley region.  Reading for All mobilizes and engages the communities in Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties in efforts that support literacy and is part of the continuum of our efforts to support children, youth, and families.  The intent is to encourage reading for children and families serves as a method of facilitating academic and lifelong success.

   Reading for All seeks to:

• Increase the community’s awareness of the importance of reading

• Encourage parents to read to their children

• Align community resources to strengthen the opportunity for more children to receive books and have adults read to them.

Efforts are designed to include individuals, families, organizations, faith communities, businesses, and agencies.  Project components include early literacy, family commitment to reading, and school/family/community partnering.  The approach is intended to complement the efforts of local schools and assist the entire community in taking responsibility for student success.
