  Influenza (FLU)

 

Influenza is a virus that infects the respiratory tract (nose, throat, lungs) causing symptoms including fever, headache, extreme tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, and muscle aches.  Children can have additional symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.  However, these symptoms are uncommon in adults. The infection can lead to severe complications of underlying diseases, pneumonia,  Influenza-associated hospitalizations and death.
