The Community Drug and Alcohol Prevention Coordinator is housed through the Polk County Service Integration Department. The program seeks to address the issues related to alcohol and other drug use and problem gambling, end the use, misuse, and abuse of these substances and activities. Using three main strategies, we collaboratively plan programs throughout Polk County and engage with youth, parents, and the community. Our three current focus areas are:

What do youth want to do? Why not ask them! The goal of the Polk County Youth Programming Survey was to capture a snapshot of what youth in Polk County are currently interested in doing. The Youth Programming Survey directly asked youth about what extra-curricular and co-curricular activities they were currently involved in and which activities they WANTED TO be involved in. Local Addiction Prevention Planning Committee (LAPPC)
LAPPC is an advisory board to the Polk County Board of Commissioners as well as Polk County Health and Human Services. LAPPC works to identify unmet needs related to alcohol and other drug treatment and prevention and encourage the community's support of these programs and services. Members of the community are welcome to attend this monthly meeting. Please see the meeting schedule below for more information and past minutes.
