The Polk County Clerk’s Office is pleased to announce that we have begun electronic recording (eRecording). As the County enters this new era of eRecording, we want to provide as much information as we can to help answer any questions you may have.
Below is some information you may find helpful.
What is eRecording?
The “e” in eRecording stands for “electronic”, meaning that documents are received electronically into our office. They are paid for electronically as well and we then record them electronically within our office. You guessed it, no paper actually changes hands in this process – it’s all done electronically! All you need is a PC, scanner, and high-speed Internet access.
What types of documents can be eRecorded?
Almost any document type may be eRecorded. All regular requirements for traditional recordings apply to eRecordings. eRecorded documents need to meet the same 1st page requirements as traditional documents.
Why move into eRecording?
It’s all about efficiency!
-
Saves time - Direct filing without waiting in line or last minute rush to our office to file a document
-
Increases your office productivity - quicker turn around times for lenders, escrow agencies, and title companies
-
Avoid mailing costs, traffic, and wasted time
-
Documents recorded in minutes
-
Eliminate check writing expenses
-
Shorten the recording gap
